“Gatineau” to Provide Analytics for MSN Against Google Analytics

Wednesday, July 25, 2007
There is rumor all around that Microsoft is going to launch “Gatineau” -a web analytics tool against Google Analytics. Ian Thomas who works for Microsoft’s Digital Advertising Solution, was almost forced to react about Gatineau when a screenshot (as can be seen below) of its beta stage was leaked out by a guy who attended a Microsoft function.
It's expected that MSN will launch this web analytics tool this year. Thomas says that Gatineau, although in beta stage, may include the ability to segment data by both age and gender buckets, so you can get more of an idea of what kind of visitors you have. Other feature is that Gatineau will allow users, once they have set up a profile and added a tracking script to their website or blog, to:
View reports
Manage goals
Manage campaigns
It's very similar to Google's Analytics product (which has been recently revamped, to mixed reviews), but apparently Gatineau will be able to leverage Live ID information (without using any PII - personally identifiable information) to offer demographic information.

If you'd like to participate in the beta, please send an e-mail, but please note that this will be a limited beta and so you may have to wait to be admitted.
