Web 2.0 is Sentimental & Web 3.0 will be Semantic!

Monday, August 02, 2010
Web is fast moving towards semantic search that may soon end web 2.0 era to give a way for web 3.0. Today, web 2.0 is at sentimental stage. Everywhere there is abuzz about social media. Millions of companies across the globe have embraced social media in the mainstream of digital marketing. Yes, sentiment is high and companies are still learning to find the ways to make use of the sentiment for web business.

People these days always talk about Automated Sentiment Analysis (ASA). They are being deployed as a tool to understand the sentiment of web users through their writing in the form of comments, postings, tweet and re-tweet. What companies want to achieve by the use ASA is the sentiment of users’ and the 'context'. They try to figure out how a particular user can be identified as a viable prospect by understating their pulse.

Once web 2.0 reaches its maturity and whole lot of content gets aggregated, the web will have enough data to analyze the sentiment of users. Based on sentiment and behavior analysis, the web gradually steps into semantic era which will be an era of web 3.0.

So, my gut feeling is that the sentimental era (web 2.0) will soon give birth to semantic era which will be an era of web 3.0. I agree with Liam Ó Móráin who envisages that the Semantic Web is the future generation in WWW technology. He envisages information from diverse sources being easily combined and used in profoundly different and more powerful ways.

Let’s hope for bigger and best!
